Ibrahim Jalees: Biography and Fiction

Abstract

Jalees was a multi talented personality and penman. He was a journalist, a film story writer and short story writer. As a journalist, he joined many newspapers and worked for them. He wrote stories heroes film stories for many films and one of his film story won 1st prize in Russian Film Festival. His very famous column was ''Waghaira Waghaira''. Ibrahim Jalees's journey as short story writer can be divided into two periods: the First period was from 1938 to 1948 the Second period was from 1948 to 1955. In both the periods he wrote short stories. His first short story book was titled ''Zard Chehrey''. His second short story book was ''Cha|ees Karor Bhikari'' that won him Universal Fame. As the acknowledgement of his journalistic and artistic services the Government Awarded him Sitara-e- Imtiaz. In this paper, the hidden corners of the life of Ibrahim Jalis have been brought to the fore and his fiction writing has been researched and critically studied.
