Some Important Aspects of Translation

Abstract

Translation work retains an important position in the literary domain. It is an integral part of the process of exchanging ideas and information as well as transforming foreign expressions and diverse fields of knowledge into one’s own language and vice versa. A sufficient amount of the World Literature was made available to indigenous cultures only through the medium of translation .A wide range of classical literature became known to the Urdu readers via translations only. This paper aims at the various aspects of translation and is substantiated with the examples and specimens of commendable translation works. It also points out few examples of what a translation ought not to be, and must be avoided at all costs.
