Abstract

Dr. Sohail Bukhari's theories on the origin and development of the Urdu language have not been taken seriously by any linguists so far. Despite the publication of his articles on linguistics, opposition to his theories has also begun. Scholars, experts, and linguists who have presented theories on Sanskrit, Prakrit, other languages of India, Deccani literature, and the Urdu language have faced criticism and questioning, which is a natural and inevitable part of research and scientific subjects. Urdu language researchers and linguists have also disagreed with each other's theories and arguments, but the opposition and criticism against Dr. Sohail Bukhari's theories have taken a hostile form. There is also a sense of enmity with academic differences. Such an atmosphere has been created against him that the ordinary linguistic student seems to be opposed to these ideas without even studying or being aware of his theories. This article will analyze the research and criticism methods of some of Dr. Sohail Bukhari's critics and supporters to understand the reasons behind this general opposition.
