Is Sira Faridiah really authored by Sir Syed?

Abstract

Sir Syed Ahmad Khan (1817-1898), founder of Aligarh Muslim University, wrote the biography of his maternal grandfather Khwaja Fariduddin Ahmad Khan titled "Seerat-e Faridiya" in 1893. It was first published in Sir Syed's life from Matba' Mufeed-e Aam of Agra in 1896. It has been edited and published by different people at different times. So far six editions of this book have been published. But the sad thing is that no compiler has consulted the original manuscript before editing the book, which is available in the Maulana Azad Library of Aligarh Muslim University. The Original manuscript contains some information which is not in the printed and edited version. I have tried to prove in my paper that the author of Seerat-e Faridiya is not Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. He has not written this book himself but some other person has written this book by Sir Syed's name
