Abstract

Wajid Ali Shah (Mohammad Wajid) was the last sovereign of Awadh state. He failed in politics & state administration but succeeded in arts and sciences the earned good name in poetry, literature and elegiac verse. He also took interest in buildings and gardens. His genres of conversation are in Urdu and Persian. He has been interest in Music, Buildings. Religion and current History. His literary compositions and writing work pieces are up to 42.

He was a monarch and as well as a writer. He also took interest in Drama and displayed his abilities as a successful artist. These qualities distinguish him from other poets. Wajid Ali Shah was Asna-ashri Shia by faith. So he attended aspecially elegiac Verses. (Marsiya) in religious meetings known as “Majalis” His research work including literary facts are all praise – worthy as he has connected them to his true faith. His effort is ever – longing.
