Abstract
Muhammad Mujeeb, a prominent playwright and dramatist from the subcontinent, is known for his creative yet serious portrayal of history, reviving historical awareness through his dramas. His works serve as lenses to understand political transitions, cultural conflicts, and shifting power dynamics in Indo-Muslim history. This research focuses on his plays Khana-Jangi, Aazmaish, and Habba Khatoon, which depict pivotal moments such as Mughal succession conflicts, moral struggles within collapsing empires, and Kashmiri cultural tragedy. Through analytical methods, it shows how Mujeeb transforms historical events into dramatic narratives, capturing the political climate and character psychology. His plays reflect on power struggles, empire decline, and political opportunism, linking past patterns to contemporary issues like authoritarianism, dissent suppression, and moral decay. Ultimately, Mujeeb’s work emphasizes that history offers enduring lessons for understanding modern social and political challenges.
